Single-handed around the atlantic – Episode 1: From Fehmarn to Roscoff

It all started in 2006 with a weekend trip on the dutch inland seas. Guido Dwersteg was infected with the sailing virus. Two years later he passed his leadoff boating license. Following first experiences as a skipper, he bought his own sailing boat. In 2012 he finally set off, to cross the atlantic ocean single-handed with his „Carpe Diem“, a Bavaria 32 Holiday. And he has filmed! The first episode of his documentary leads us from Fehmarn (GER) to Roscoff (FRA). The result is a lovingly made film, which also contains many useful knowledge and information along his way. We are also looking forward to episode 2, coming up soon. The Caribbean for connoisseurs – Part I

Chartering in the British Virgin Islands: Impressions from an extraordinary sailing area.

There are few regions more suitable for novices who want to see a lot in a short time. The area features more than 60 islands, countless bays equipped with mooring buoys, a diverse landscape, good infrastructure as well as short distances and reliable winds. Not to mention the turquoise waters, plenty of sun, and the famous Caribbean flair.  On the occasion of the opening of Moorings’ new luxury base on Tortola, we took a look around.

Moorings presents a brand-new luxury charter location

British Virgin Islands: Charter guests coming to Tortola will be received like in a 5-star hotel – at one of the world’s most modern and comfortable bases

This is where the charter company Moorings began on the BVI’s forty years ago.  To celebrate this anniversary, the company – having since become part of the TUI group – has extended and modernized the entire facility.  Four hundred boats, more than a quarter of the worldwide fleet, anchor here.  The classy ambience alone would be temptation enough to stay for a while even if one of the most beautiful sailing areas were not waiting right across the marina.  YACHT tv brings you this exclusive report on the charms of the Caribbean, the appeal of the new location and talks with TUI Marine’s top managers about the latest trends in the chartering business.
